Find answers to the most common questions about M3U8Online player
M3U8 is a playlist file format based on the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol. It is the UTF-8 encoded version of M3U files. M3U8 files contain index information for video streams, pointing to actual media segments (.ts files), widely used in online video live streaming and on-demand services.
It's very simple: 1) Open the M3U8Online homepage; 2) Paste your M3U8 URL in the input box; 3) Click the "Play" button to start watching. You can also save frequently used links for quick access next time.
Our player primarily supports M3U8 (HLS) format video streams. This includes live and on-demand streams, supporting various resolutions (from 360p to 4K). It is also compatible with most standard HLS streams, including encrypted video streams.
After entering an M3U8 link on the homepage, click the "Save" icon next to the input box to save the link locally. Saved links will appear in the list below the page — click to quickly load them. All data is stored in your browser's local storage and is never uploaded to any server.
Video playback may fail for the following reasons: 1) The M3U8 link is invalid or expired; 2) The server has not configured CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing), causing the browser to block the request; 3) The stream uses DRM protection; 4) Unstable network connection. Try checking if the link works in other players first.
CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) is a browser security policy. When the server hosting the M3U8 file doesn't allow cross-origin access, the browser blocks the request. Solutions: 1) Contact the video source server admin to add CORS headers; 2) Use CORS-enabled video sources; 3) For development testing, use browser CORS plugins (testing only).
Our player is built on HLS.js technology and supports all modern browsers: Chrome 51+, Firefox 54+, Edge 15+, Safari 10+, Opera 38+, etc. On Safari and iOS devices, HLS is natively supported. We recommend using the latest browser version for the best experience.
Video loading speed depends on: 1) Your network bandwidth and stability; 2) The video source server's response speed; 3) The video's bitrate and resolution. Suggestions: check your network connection, try a lower resolution stream, confirm the video source server's access speed in your region.
Currently, our player supports subtitles embedded in HLS streams (WebVTT format). If the M3U8 stream contains subtitle tracks, the player will automatically detect them and provide subtitle switching options. Support for standalone subtitle files is under development.

Yes. In browsers that support PiP (Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc.), you can right-click on the video and select "Picture-in-Picture" mode. The video window will float above other windows, allowing you to watch while doing other tasks.
Your saved playback links are stored only in your browser's local storage (LocalStorage) and are never sent to our servers. This data is cleared when you clear browser data or use incognito mode. We do not collect or track your playback history.
Our player runs entirely in the browser and doesn't require any plugins or software. Video data is transmitted directly from the source server to your browser — we never handle any video content. The website uses HTTPS encryption to ensure secure access.
